In Some Cases Tranquilizers Might Induce ED
Tranquilizers are drug which are used to calm a person without affecting their consciousness. They act as depressants to the central nervous system and are used to induce sleep or decrease the anxiety. They are available in pills, injection form and intravenous solution.
Major tranquilizers and Minor tranquilizers are the two types of tranquilizer. Major tranquilizers are used to treat to mental disorders hence they are referred as Anti- psychotics. These are not widely abused. These include drugs like Thorazine, haldol, Clozaril etc. Minor tranquilizers are commonly used as anti anxiety drugs often referred as Sedative/ Hypnotics. They also act as general anesthetic. Prolonged use of these drugs leads to addiction. Libs, tranks, benzos and vees belong to minor tranquilizer drugs.
In some cases tranquilizers might induce ED and might warrant treatment with Sildenafil Citrate.
The effects may appear immediately and last for an hour even to days. Reduced emotional reactions, decreased mental alterness and attention span, depressed heart beat and breathing, induce sleep for long hours, leads to drowsiness, mental confusion, physical unsteadiness and produce a sense of calm and well being are some of the immediate effects of tranquilizers. The long term effects include withdrawal reactions, increased aggressiveness, dependence on others, extreme depression and high tolerance power.
When they are used with other drugs over dose or death may occur. Skin problems, nausea and dizziness are some of the side effects associated with tranquilizers. Others side effects like they interfere with the psycho- motor, intellectual and perceptual functions.
When they are taken during pregnancy they lead to congenital defects like cleft lip, cleft plate etc. The proportions of tranquilizers are high in breast milk than in mother’s blood this leads to high proportion of them in children than in mother. When used for 4 to 6 weeks and stopped suddenly will lead to withdrawal effects like disturbed sleep, stomach pain, sweating, irritability, tremors etc.
