Hair loss is a common problem occurring in humans. It was found out people loses 50- 100 hairs per day, this amount of hair loss is normal. If the count exceed more than this, then necessary care should be taken.
A balanced diet plays a role in hair growth. Apart from getting treatment for hair loss with drugs like Finasteride and Propecia a good diet is crucial for hair growth.
Hormonal alteration or disturbance like diabetes, thyroid interferes with hair growth and causes hair fall. Hair loss is sometimes caused due to the side effects of certain drugs. Mostly medicines given to treat psychological disorders will leads to hair fall. Cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy have hair loss problem. Doing hair coloring and styling very frequently leads to hair fall. Heavy chemicals are used for coloring the hair, these leads to hair damage often. Hair styling like straightening, hair curling and bleaching also leads to hair fall.
Hair loss is also seen in people who are not having a proper balanced food. Lack of certain nutrients leads to hair fall. Poor intake of protein, vitamins and minerals leads to deficiencies leading to hair loss. Mostly people suffering from iron deficiency anaemia tend to lose hair. Certain infections like fungal infection affecting the scalp will lead to hair loss. Certain event like delivering baby or under going any major surgery leads to hair loss. The skin disease called as Alopecia areata affecting the scalp leads to hair fall but this is not very common. This disease usually occurs in childhood than in adult age. It leads to round bald patches, but usually hair grows within a year. Among adults, especially in male hair loss leads to baldness. The condition is termed as Androgenetic alopecia. This is caused mainly because of alteration in male hormone and sometimes genetic factors plays a important role in causing baldness in males. Hair loss is also seen among body builders who are taking steroids like testosterone.
