Role Of Medications In Dealing With Pain |

|
Whenever there is a surgery or any other health problem which causes pain, the physician will prescribe a pain reliever. Pain relievers are tablets which reduces the pain. Whenever there is a pain in any part of the body, the nerve endings of the cells which is hurt or paining will releases a chemical substances known as prostaglandin which sends message to the brain which tells the location of the pain and the intensity of the pain. Once this message reaches the brain we start feeling the pain. When we take pain relievers, they stop the injured nerve cells from releasing prostaglandin. When prostaglandin is not released by the cells, the message about the pain does not reach the brain clearly or quickly and therefore we don’t feel the pain. As long as the cells don’t release prostaglandin, there will be no pain and there are chances of the injury to get cured slowly. Pain relievers are very helpful in muscle pains. Most of the soft tissues injuries are very painful due to swelling and inflammation. So people mostly go for pain relievers or anti-inflammatory drugs which are available over-the-counter. Among the over-the-counter pain relievers acetaminophen and ibuprofen are mostly used. Over-the-counter, nonsteroidal anti –inflammatory drugs are also used to reduce the pain caused due to inflammation. Corticosteroids are commonly prescribed by the physician for chronic soft-tissue injuries. Aspirin, Aleve, Motrin, Advil and other forms of acetaminophen are the usually pain relievers we get over-the -counter. Pain medications do have sedative properties and some of them tend to over use and abuse them beyond limitations. It is important that you stick on to the dosages prescribed by your physician, for over dosages can lead you to pain medication addiction. So, when you order from an online pharmacy, be sure to stick on to the dosages provided by your physician. Never self-prescribe. |
