Serotonin and Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors – Bupropion for Depression

In today’s luxurious world no people are free from mental disorder. Causes for depression are restless work and tension. The amount of depression varies between every individual. Though physical behavior forms a part for depression, much analysis found that daily food habits are mostly responsible for mental disorder and depression. In brain information is passed between two nerve cells through synapse, which is a gap filled by Neurotransmitters. These are recognized by the receptors present on the second cell. So when the levels of Neurotransmitters vary the response of the second cell also varies leading to changes in the activity of brain. The recipient cell is stimulated only when the stimulus received is greater than its normal threshold value. Hence to compensate the variation, Drugs serotonin and Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors are used to alter the amount of serotonin within the brain. Serotonin level beyond the blood brain barrier amount is the cause for depression. Our food practices include the consumption of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, amino acid etc. when Protein is consumed in excessive quantity serotonin level of central nervous system increases. Incomplete digestion also alter mood by depressing CNS serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine levels. Carbohydrate as well as alcohol intake may increase or decrease the levels of serotonin based on the amount taken.

These drugs after manufacturing are tested by the pharmaceutical departments for their side effects. Not all countries provide approval for the drug. The effects of these drugs vary based on the dose given certain cases needed daily treatment but some provide immediate results. Certain drugs like alcohol, lithium, diuretics may increase the toxicities Inhibitors. Hence consuming such drugs should be avoided while the patient is under the treatment for depression. The response of every individual to the release of Serotonin and Norepinephrine in brain is based on genetic factors in part.  However, Bupropion has been safely implemented in treating depression for quite sometime now.
